NVIDIA G-Assist Now Runs on 6GB RTX GPUs

NVIDIA G-Assist Now Runs on 6GB RTX GPUs

Big Change for Gamers. NVIDIA has officially lowered the entry point for its AI-powered Project G-Assist. Previously limited to GPUs with 12GB VRAM or more, the tool can now run on RTX graphics cards with just 6GB VRAM, including many laptops.

This breakthrough comes thanks to a new AI model that uses 40% less memory, making it possible to run G-Assist on lower-spec hardware.

Release and Access

The update was announced at Gamescom 2025 and is available starting August 19, 2025. To use it, you’ll need:

  • NVIDIA driver version 580.97 or later

  • The NVIDIA App

How to Activate NVIDIA G-Assist

  1. Open NVIDIA App → Get → Open

What’s New

  • Plugin Hub (via mod.io): Install community-made plugins to expand features.

  • Smarter AI Performance: Faster, more stable, and capable of auto-selecting the right tool or plugin.

Important Notes

Project G-Assist is still in experimental (pre-release) status. That means you may encounter:

  • Framerate drops

  • Freezes

  • Wrong game detection

NVIDIA also warns about privacy, stability, and accuracy issues, since development is ongoing.

Bottom Line

Yes—G-Assist now works with 6GB VRAM RTX GPUs. But remember, it’s still beta software, so expect some rough edges.
